External renovation at Durrants Estate Agent Office, Diss

The Eastern elevation was in a very poor state of repair having been cement rendered some forty years previously. As a listed building we had to take the utmost care to carry out a substantial and sympathetic renovation whilst liasing with the Heritage Officer and planning department.

The oak frame required extensive repairs due to rot caused by water ingress and the cement render hindering the building's ability to 'breathe'. Waveney Build Ltd constructed a new face frame in oak throughout, to bridge over the weak points and rebuilt two chimneys and the valley roofs. The walls were rendered properly, with the correct lime plaster onto traditional larch laths, as would have been the case when it was originally built.
